Good looks with easy to use controls. USB port does not work with Zune 80gb model. You need a noise suppressor for the power leads. I had a lot of alternator noise coming through on both radio stations and line in. I was replacing an older Dual model with this one and had no problem with noise on the older unit. Tried audio streaming through bluetooth with a droid x and couldn't get rid of static corresponding with highs in the audio. Overall this unit is below average rating. You get what you pay for.

Does a serious factory upgrade, with more muscle at an affordable price, sound too good to be true? What it sounds like are some of the loudest, clearest coaxials ever hidden behind a door on under a back deck. And KICKER takes full responsibility.

Give factory sound a serious power injection with a KS-Series Coaxial Speaker upgrade. With added improvements on the woofers and tweaked tweeters, dropping them in where factory speakers were seems like a no-brainer. The curvilinear, gray woofer cones, Santoprene surround, and newly designed basket give KS Coaxials the extra brawn to deliver a smooth, rich sound at any volume.
The half- and three-quarter-inch, Kaladex-domed tweeters contain a stout neodymium magnet dipped in ferrofluid for maximum coolness, recreating highs that rival live performance.
KS Coaxes are available in 10 sizes, from the capable 3.5-inch up to the marine-ready 6 x 9. The line includes a 6 x 8 for special applications. If you're looking for more from your doors, there's also a KS6930 3-way system in the lineup with an additional one-inch midrange.

Received this item yesterday and had to scramble in the basement for an old power adapter off a dead hdd enclosure, but once that was wired up, I connected my iPod Touch using Apple's composite AV cable, and all was well. I didn't see an obvious way to switch between AV inputs on the display itself, having instead to use the supplied remote, but that's not a huge deal. Only one dead pixel, but I can hardly complain about that at this price point.

Pyle PLVW-CRK5 1/2+ Din Center Channel Speaker and Amplifier Review

Pyle PLVW-CRK5 1/2+ Din Center Channel Speaker and Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all let me say I bought these at 40$ + shipping. For the "retail" price you can find the Apline unit which is bigger and has a bigger sound or build your own (I did one with the Aura 2" full range speakers that came out very nice). Of course you will need a separate amplifier.
Bought this for a friend who is doing a budget 5.1 install in his hyundai accent. Considering the price of other center channel solutions (for which you would need to purchase an auxiliary amplifier AND wiring) it's a great buy. The amplifier included is adequate to fully power the small speakers to realistic vocal levels and was very easy to hook up and had some fair mounting options. You will need a single channel RCA cable for input.
Mounting the speaker itself took a bit of re-working the pocked beneth the head unit but with a dremmel, utility knife, and some patience we made it happen. The speakers themselves are angled at about 45 degrees upwards so perhaps designed for cars with the head unit a bit lower on the dash, but they still do fairly well off-axis. If you have a FULL din size iso mount hole the Alpine (full DIN size) is super easy to mount and is supperior sounding.
I'm completely against "center" channel for music listening. If you have a good left and right it should naturally form a central soundstage. If you don't have this, adding another speaker (particularly a tiny one without advanced processing) will become an accoustic disaster and will not fix an allready poor or cluttered soundstage. THIS IS NOT DESIGNED FOR MUSIC!!!!!
Movies recorded in 5.1 surround have an audio track which is designed to play through a center speaker. It's primarily dialog and for that purpose this center channel is quite adequate to keep up with 50W X4 on the fronts and rears. If you have a head unit that plays movies in 5.1 surround, this is a very inexpensive solution to fix weak dialog from downmixing 5.1 to 4.1 or simple stereo signal or just add that next level to your mobile multimedia.
Anyway, I had a feeling they'd be decent for the money so I bought a spare that I might use down the road. I'd say worth more than I paid for mine and a solid little unit provided you understand what it can and cannot do. Really my only beef with this was that it was an odd size and needed some customization to mount into the dash kit (I'm sure much of this is vehicle specific though)

PIAA 93255 Super Silicone Curved Black Wiper Blade - 22

I bought a pair of these more than a year ago for my wife's car and they're still working great. The wipers come with a windshield cleaner you have to use first, then you're supposed to run the wipers on the dry windshield for a few minutes to get the coating started. I followed the directions and they worked beyond my expectations. I agree that they don't sheet the rain as well as rain-x, but that wasn't why I bought them and, regardless of sheeting, they really give you a good clean windshield. My wife's car is 10 years old and the windshield was always streaky and rough; it would never clear properly in the rain, was very hard to see through when wet, and any wipers I used would chatter and skip terribly. Whether it was the cleaning solution, the wipers, or both, this product solved all these problems. The windshield is clear and streak free, the wipers clear the rain beautifully, you can see well in the rain, and they have never skipped or chattered once. Maybe the first reviewer didn't follow all the steps/directions, but I'm very happy with these and will definitely get them again whenever these wear out.

Boss 765DBI In-Dash Solid State MP3 Receiver with Internal iPod Docking Station Review

Boss 765DBI In-Dash Solid State MP3 Receiver with Internal iPod Docking Station
Average Reviews:

As described on the website, this receiver looked perfect for my needs: built in bluetooth compatible with my iPhone, and a hidden iPod connection, which means no ugly wires dangling from the front of my dashboard to hook up my tunes. iPod is controllable from the front panel -- also what I wanted. Great that it had a radio, but I like to listen to the iPod and make/receive phone calls; no need for a CD player (which this unit does not have).
Unfortunately, the iPod interface is really pretty awful. I have hundreds of albums on my iPod, and there is no way to search through them other than alphabetically, and that requires turning the knob on the front of the unit. No acceleration to get you there faster. Can't search by composer, (although you can search by playlist, genre, artist, album or song) which would have been nice as I am a classical music fan. The WORST feature, however, is that the unit drops the first second of every track as it starts playing, which is totally unacceptable. I've packaged it back up and am returning it.
Oh, and the display is unbelievably coarse-- looks like maybe 100 pixels on the whole thing; the result is blocky letters reminiscent of early 80's electronics. Not worthy of the $150 pricetag.

Sony XSW3521 3.5-Inch 2-Way Speaker Review

I am a rocker so that may mean I don't require the speakers that shakes the windows off of houses as I drive by them. I want it loud, clean and even.
I bought these speakers to add to the SONY 6x9 XPLOD (XS-GT6935A 5 stars as well) and a Sony Headunit (CDX-GT210 - 4 of 5 stars) recently purchased.
My old system experienced a sudden and violent death by way of a short - LOUD popping noise, smell of electronics burning. These speakers were part of the new rebuild.
They work great, a little too great, really.
I use them up front and don't like so much sound up front while trying to drive and hear. They have plenty of sound at all levels and more bass than I would have thought for a small speaker, I just fade back to the rear +5 and were are rollin'.
Don't hesitate to get these, I got them from DependableResource and they were exactly what they said, best price and arrived on time, no problems whatsoever.
Good Luck to you.

At first i hesitated but then i figure what the heck it's worth a try versus losing my vehicle. My impressions of this device after a couple months of use is high. The remotes could use a little worth but being able to break into my own vehicle in just a few seconds makes this a must. My experience with vehicle thefts is if they can't get it started in 30seconds or less they move on, and this kill switch does just that, takes more than 30seconds. With kill switches coming in all shapes and sizes anyone will do, but the less obvious it is the better. The relay looks like all the others so they wouldn't know where to look. Overall i give this a 10/10!!!!!

Other than when it's snowing, this blade works very well. There is a hollow channel on the bottom where it mounts to the wiper arm that tends to fill up with snow and slush. This hinders its wiping ability because the blade doesn't fully contact the windshield. A similar blade that works much better in winter conditions is the Bosch Icon.

It's been a few weeks since I've had this head unit installed by a pro. CONS- He had to put the unit on a wood bench and shave down the sides to get the unit to fit flush, but this also made it theft deterent. Install cost was more than twice the price of the head unit. The display for tracks is pretty small. PROS- You get a whole lot for your money and the quality seems to be really good. I couldn't have asked for more at this price point. CEA-2006 CompliantPower ratings on Rockford Fosgate amplifiers conform to CEA-2006 industry standards. These guidelines mean your amplifier's output power ratings are REAL POWER numbers, not inflated marketing ratings.
Differential Inputs Differential input circuitry measures the voltage of both the (+) and (-) input signal. The circuitry subtracts the voltage common to both conductors (noise) resulting in only the clean signal. This allows only clean signal to enter the amplifier.
DSM (Discrete Surface Mount)DSM utilize 1% tight-tolerances improving efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components and lowers operating temperature.
Dynamic Thermal ManagementEvenly distributes excess heat across entire amplifier heatsink.
MEHSA3MEHSA3 reduces MOSFET temperatures, lowers distortion, increases durability and prolongs the output device life span.
NOMADNOMAD is a "real time" analog computer that protects your amplifier from shorting speaker wires and dangerously low speaker impedances.
Punch EQ2Onboard equalizer with up to +18dB @ 35Hz and/or up to +12dB boost at 12kHz.
TO-247 MOSFETsRockford Fosgate amps use custom TO-247 MOSFETs. These have 60% more metal tab area for more power capacity, lower impedance and improved heat dissipation over traditional TO-220 MOSFETs found in competitor amps.
TRANS·anaTrans·ana simplifies the signal path of the amplifier allowing the signal to travel through the amplifier at a lower voltage. The result is greater reliability and exceptional sound quality.

Pioneer DEH-P5200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio and iPod Direct Control Review

Pioneer DEH-P5200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio and iPod Direct Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For the past 4 years I've been using a Pioneer DEH-P6700MP car stereo which is almost identical to the Pioneer DEH-P670MP. I really liked the Pioneer as it seemed to really be able to liven up my 1998 Toyota Corolla factory speakers and had several features I regularly used and loved. I decided it was time to upgrade recently as my old Pioneer was having difficulty playing CDs while the AC was on, and it was making ticking sounds with many of my CDs. I decided right off the bat I was going to stick with Pioneer.
I spent a few days researching units and the main thing I kept noticing with many of the new 2010 Pioneer CD Players was the choice of going with one that had HD Radio or going with one that had Bluetooth functionality. It doesn't appear you can get a Pioneer with both. I decided to go with the HD Radio functionality due in part to the talk about how FM broadcast quality was greatly improved. (I'll post a small rant on this at the end of my review.)
It seems like all Pioneers have the ability to read MP3 CDs still which is great, but one of the nicer additions is the USB port on the front. You can plug in your iPod, Zune, or USB thumb drive and play music off it instead of burning a CD or MP3 CD. It also works for charging USB devices. I tried plugging my Black Berry 8350i into the USB slot, but it would not recognize it as media and would only charge the phone. Another input on this Pioneer head unit is the aux audio input jack on the front of the face that you can plug into with a male to male stereo audio cable. An unannounced features this unit has that will be useful for many is RDS support. The unit will display the song/artist when listening to radio stations that broadcast this information.
Installation: I thought going from one Pioneer to another would be a breeze and that the stereo wire harness would be the same as my old Pioneer. Just to be sure I contacted Crutchfield whom said many stereo manufacturers use the same harness for several years. Unfortunately I want to confirm in my review that the one from my DEH-P6700MP and the one in this new DEH-P5200HD are not the same. They look similar, but they are wired like a mirror image of each other and will not fit each other. *A note to the beginners, if you've still got a factory stereo in your vehicle, do yourself a favor and buy a harness adapter so you do not have to cut the factory wiring in the dash. That way if you ever go to sell your vehicle or you decide you do not like the stereo, you can just disconnect the harness and put the factory stereo back in.
I've been using the Pioneer DEH-P5200HD for a few weeks now and I like the unit a lot. Many of the various equalizer settings are the same as what was available on my old unit, and MP3 CD playback is about the same as well. Having the USB slot on the front is extremely convenient and I use it frequently to plug in a 8gb USB thumb drive full of songs. When you pull out the drive and plug it back in, the unit remembers where you were at in the last song and picks right back up. One major thing that takes some getting used to is the control knob on the radio. It seems to control everything in that one knob and it takes time to get used to. The remote control will help ease you into things as all the buttons are easily spelled out on it. It's also worth noting the remote is identical to my previous Pioneer remote and both were even cross-compatible.
Pros:
-Same fantastic EQ options Pioneer is known for. Includes bass frequency filtering options.
-USB & Aux input on the face
-USB input plays immediately when you plug in a USB drive, it also remembers what file and where it was at when the device was last plugged into it.
-iPod control from the face or remote
-RDS support for showing titles of songs from broadcast radio
-No lights and animated character distractions flashing all over the display.
Cons:
-Face detaches to the left side instead of flipping down which may be harder to remove depending on your dash
-HD Radio is not much of an improvement in quality of FM radio.
-USB input when reading from a USB thumb drive appears to read the folder order from last to first. (Song order is also affected if you add more songs to a folder later.)
-Control knob is an awkward all in one with a bit of a learning curve.
Do you remember upgrading from a tube TV to a flat screen? Do you remember the difference in picture quality? HD Radio is NOT that same upgrade. The HD FM radio broadcast quality is almost the same as what you've heard for years except now you don't get static, instead you get cutting in and out for seconds at a time when the signal starts getting weaker. Sometimes you hear the radio DJs talking about how much better their station sounds in HD, but the truth is there isn't much of a difference. I've read AM broadcast is hugely improved, but I have no interest in most talk radio programming so I have not tuned into any of it.
I'll try to come back and update this review once I've had some more hands on time.
*UPDATE 5/21/2010*
HD FM Radio: I've had this unit installed for a month now and have spent more time with the HD FM Radio functionality. I have turned off the blending mode that combines the HD and regular FM signals and find HD reception to be bad. I live minutes outside Houston and the reception on most the FM HD stations is extremely poor. For HD when the signal gets weak, the broadcast just cuts out all together. When I go downtown the signal is usually exceptional, but at 20 miles away from one of my frequent stations, quality becomes more miss than hit. When I drive to the southeast side of town, most the HD stations are unavailable at all. If you live inside a large city and are close to the radio stations you might enjoy HD radio, but for those of you who live in suburbs or you are far from the radio stations FM HD Radio is probably not for you.
Sound quality: I have finally decided this unit out performs my old Pioneer in sound quality. One of the custom features you can set and adjust that makes this possible is the ability to filter low bass frequencies from your 4 regular speakers. For those that like to turn up their music really loud sometimes, this can help you from blowing a speaker and also get rid of some of that extra distortion you can get from turning up the volume too much. That's not to say you can't still blow a speaker, but it should help.
Other than the HD Radio and the occasional issue with the all in one control knob accidentally getting pressed in when changing the volume, this Pioneer is a great unit. I'd definitely buy another Pioneer car stereo, they have not let me down yet. I'll update this review again if I come across anything new or something worth updating.
*UPDATE 6/22/2010*
USB Input Reading: I have finally found out what the order folders are read from USB flash drives. Apparently all folders and subfolders are read from the flash drive based on the order in which they are copied to the drive. While you would think this wouldn't be an issue, it can be an annoyance for those with multiple folders. If you select and copy multiple folders at a time to a flash drive, Windows seems to want to copy the folders from last to first. It does the same thing if you copy a folder with subfolders in it. Also if you go back and add more folders later, those will play after all the other previously copied folders.
Song playback order is also affected by the order in which they are copied. If you go back later and add songs, they will play after the previously copied songs in that folder. If you are like me and have purchased multiple albums from an artist and want to play them from oldest to newest, you'll have to copy the folders to the drive in the order you want them to play. If all this file order talk sounds like too much, the good news is that you can burn a MP3 CD with folders and they will be played in alphanumeric order without any special copying order or anything. For those of you with iPod, none of this order playback should be an issue since the iPod is actually playing the songs and sending the music to the receiver.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner Pioneer's legendary Supertuner IIID combines the best of digital and analog tuner technologies to reduce distortion to bring you exceptional FM and AM performance. If you live in an area where reception is weak, you'll hear a big improvement in signal strength. And when you're near tall buildings, Supertuner IIID reduces the effect of multi-path noise, which occurs when the signal is reflecting off of the buildings.
MOSFET 50W x4 Amplifier for the Power Hungry Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, delivering power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. And that doesn't just mean a boost in volume: it means that your music will be cleaner at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. Clean, efficient power that will rock your vehicle.
The DEH-5200HD is also ready for expansion, with two sets of 2V RCA preamp outputs (front, rear/subwoofer) for system expansion with external amps/speakers, and a two-way crossover with separate high and low pass settings.
Get Plugged In Use the built-in AUX input for connecting any digital portable player and other external auxiliary devices. For extra-convenient access, the input is on the front panel.
Dial In Your Sound Tweak the sound to your liking with the on-board five-band graphic EQ. A Loudness feature ensures ample low-end even during quiet listening, and standard balance/fader controls let you adjust the stereo image to suit your vehicle and preferences.
