(More customer reviews)The cable is more or less a must-have. It only works with units that have iPod circuitry built in, and those units are more or less identical to the units below them besides the iPod control. So why get a unit that needs this cable if you're not going to use the iPod functionality? Exactly.
Anyway, the cable itself is made of a nice, high quality rubber and connects VERY easily to the corresponding port on the back of your Pioneer head unit.
It should be noted, however, that like other Pioneer iPod connectors which allow control through the head unit, the iPod's controls are locked out while it is connected. I was hoping this wasn't the case with this cable and our DEH-P4900IB, but it was... hence only 4 stars.
Otherwise, it's great. All song information and control is sent to the head unit as advertised.
