(More customer reviews)I installed four eight inch pioneer speakers in my 25 foot open fisherman. They are connected to a Sony 600 watt (60 watts RMS) Marine Amplifier. These speakers sound great. THEY WILL NOT PLAY WELL WITHOUT AN AMPLIFIER (nominal rating is 40 watts RMS). They are the best value and are unmatched by any competitor in their price range. In order to get a better sounding speaker you will have to pay nearly twice as much, but those expensive speakers will not sound twice as good. In addition, pioneer marine speakers will hold up very well when exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. I did not use a boat cover and the speakers still sound great 18 months later. Bass response is just OK but mids and highs are awesome. For deep bass you will need to add subwoofers and a mono amp as I did (two 10s). I highly recommend pioneer to any consumer. If you only want to listen to the speakers while inside the boat, you can mount them low, however if you intend on listening to the speakers while anchored at a beach/sandbar, choose the highest place available to mount them. I have a pair on the sides of my center console at the highest point, since I often listen to music while the boat is anchored and I am in the water. These Pioneer speakers sound crisp even from 50 feet away.
